After the tragic death of my only brother—and years trying to untangle the mystery surrounding his death, his ex-wife’s murder soon after, and their son’s death—I began to paint. It felt as though the world had finally exhaled. What started as a way to quiet my mind soon became the thing that filled it completely. Color overtook thought. Texture became language. And before long, I was chasing the feeling instead of the reason.
Over time, doors opened—inviting me to show my work at Blue Line Arts Gallery, RAW: Natural Born Artists, most recently in the running for Johnny Depp’s “The People’s Artist” competition, and other spaces where creative energy hums in the air. Each exhibit reminded me that what begins in solitude can ripple outward, touching people I may never meet.
In the fall of 2023, my story was featured in 406 Woman’s Magazine—a full two page spread titled “The Accidental Artist.” It told how art found me when I wasn’t looking for it. [Read the article here (pg 12-13.]
